I am Gra Singleton and I am seeking re-election to the Garner Town Council. Please support me for another four years as we continue improving our town together.
I've spent nearly my whole life in Garner, attending school and working within the town limits as an adult. I care about the town I spend so much time in with my family and friends. I am a citizen who has always been involved in what Garner was and is now becoming. I enjoy stepping up to the challenges facing a growing town in a responsible and caring manner and welcome all to live, work and raise a family here.
About Me
I have been a Garner resident for the past 61 years and a small business owner in Garner for 28 years. I am invested in Garner as a homeowner and a business owner. I have always embraced our "small town" charm and I am thankful that my family has built a life here.
As the Triangle area has attracted new residents taking advantage of job opportunities, Garner has also seen growth. I have the vision needed to help Garner navigate this growth while preserving the qualities that make Garner so attractive to our citizens. I will continue to strive for responsible spending by the Council and for economic development in our Town. I will also ensure that sidewalks are planned for and designed, and that we continue to grow our beautiful parks system. Serving as a Councilman requires hard work and dedication. I do my homework, ask the pertinent questions, listen to the Garner citizens, and make sound decisions. I want to continue to make Garner a great place to live, to work, and to raise a family and I ask for your support.
Goals for Garner
Oversee municipal expenditures through the budgeting process.
Continue to plan for transportation improvements, sidewalks, and enhanced bus service in town.
Actively promote Garner and pursue economic development that brings well-paying jobs.
Plan for future development around the I-540 corridor.
Establish a Housing and Neighborhood Manager to work with local and county officials to identify and increase affordable housing options in Garner. This position will also assist long-term residents by seeking financial resources to enable them to maintain and remain in their homes.
Again, we must oversee municipal expenditures through the budgeting process. I have voted against the past two budgets because they include significant increases in administrative costs, which I believe place an undue burden on local taxpayers.
